Pirates Lose by 10 to Centre College

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Football had one more opportunity to get a win at home before going on the road for their last three contests of the season. The Pirates faced off against the Centre College Colonels in front of a homecoming crowd on Saturday afternoon, but a large showing of the Pirate faithful just wasn't enough to push Southwestern to victory. Ten points by the Colonels in the fourth quarter was would give a 38-28 result in favor of Centre.

OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
  • Aiden Huerta caught eight passes for 119 yards and one touchdown with a long of forty eight yards.
  • Samuel Johnson rushed for a goal line touchdown and also caught two passes for thirty yards.
  • Jaylen Spriggs accounted for three total touchdowns, two on the ground and one through the air. 
DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
  • Caleb Harmon again led the Pirates in total tackles with eleven; two of those being tackles for loss. He also forced a fumble and broke up one pass. 
  • DJ James was tied for second on the team in tackles with eight and also picked off a Colonel pass.
  • Cam Roberson recorded his second interception of the season, returning the INT for twenty-three yards. He also had a pass break up and a half tackle for loss.
NOTES
  • The Pirates lost the turnover battle with the Colonels recovering two fumbles and intercepting two passes against Southwestern.
  • Charlie Fournier averaged 41.5 yards per punt with a long of 54 and pinned the Colonels inside the twenty once.
  • Southwestern only trailed the Colonels in total yards of offense by twenty yards (352-332), but had five penalties against on the offensive end.
