Early goal holds up for Pirate win

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern scored in the seventh minute and held off the Crusaders the rest of the way to win 1-0 and remain unbeaten in conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Just seven minutes into the match the Pirates took the lead as Mady Akers brought the ball downfield and rocketed a shot at goal. UD's Elena Nacceri punched the ball away but it landed right at the feet of Sarah Bevins who tapped it home for the 1-0 Southwestern lead.
  • Dallas upped their pressure and had good looks early in the second half but reigning SCAC Defensive Player of the Week Kylie Hunt and the Pirate defense held strong to keep UD scoreless.
