Neil's Late-Game Heroics Give Pirates Win

Box Score

IRVING, Texas  -  With less than two minutes on the clock Southwestern's Hannah Neil scored the only goal of the game to lift the Pirates past the University of Dallas Friday afternoon, moving Southwestern to 8-6-2 on the year and 2-4-1 in the SCAC.

Southwestern started the contest off aggressively, attacking goal any chance they had and recorded five shots in the first half. Dallas, at home for the final weekend this season, would not be out-done as they took five shots as well.

The Pirate defense would be tested as the second half got underway. The Crusaders turned up the pressure, taking seven second half shots, but SU's line held strong and Sarah Nonaka was solid in goal as she recorded six saves on the afternoon, five in the second half.

Southwestern continued to press and got the game winner in the 89th minute when Maria Pollifrone crossed the ball into Neil in the box. Neil, towering over the opponents, drilled the ball into the back of the net. The goal was Neil's third of the season while Pollifrone recorded her second assist of the year.

The Pirates close out the season on Sunday as they face Austin College in Sherman, Texas at noon.
