PIRATES SPLIT FINAL GAMES OF REGULAR SEASON

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Southwestern's women's soccer team went 1-1 in their final road trip of the year, falling to Centre 1-0 on Friday and then defeating DePauw 1-0 on Sunday. The Pirates end the year at 9-8-1 overall and 5-5 in the SCAC.

On Friday night Southwestern wasn't able to get their offense going but the defense did all they could to keep SU in the game. Centre had 13 shots to Southwestern's three and Centre recieved eight corner kicks to the Pirates' zero.

The lone goal of the match came in the 55th minute when Centre's Collins passed through the middle to Garr on a breakaway forcing Southwestern's keeper Sarah Nonaka out of the goal. Garr played the ball just out of Nonaka's reach for the game winner.

Sunday the shots (15-3) and corner kicks (3-2) were once again not in the Pirates' favor, but SU made the most of their looks as Paige Duggins scored the lone goal and game winner to send Southwestern out of the season on a victory. Lindsay Jakszta found Duggins in the 76th minute to give the Pirates the late game winner.

The games mark the end of the 2010 season for the Pirates and nine seniors completed their collegiate careers on the pitch this weekend.
