Box Score

#6 Wisconsin Stevens Point was just a little too much for the Pirates to handle in the opening game of the Trinity/Southwestern Classic as Southwestern dropped the contest 74-69.

Southwestern University played well shooting 44.7% from the field and 83.3% from the free throw line, but could not overcome UW-SP's 48.1% from the field and nearly 40% behind the arc.  Senior Andrew McDonald led SU with 11 points on 4-5 shooting (3-4 FT).  Juniors Zach Bergstrom and Travis Barber and sophomore Jonathan Brown tallied 9 points a piece in the loss.

The Pirates were out rebounded in the contest 35-23, but forced the Pointers into 4 more turnovers (18).

The loss moves the Pirates to 1-1 on the season.  They will next take on Schreiner University on Saturday in the second half of the Trinity/Southwestern Classic @ 3:00 p.m.  Live stats will be available through Trinity University and can be accessed through the Southwestern University athletics website.
