Phan joined the staff as full-time assistant in the summer of 2026. Before the promotion, Phan served as a volunteer since the 2024 season. The native of Austin, Texas specializes in offensive line coaching alongside Andy Workman.

Phan returns to the program after playing for the Pirates in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Phan was part of the Pirates historic SCAC Conference Championship in 2016. The former Pirate has helped coach one All-Conference Offensive Lineman.
