John Bishop ’19 joined the Pirates football coaching staff after graduating from Southwestern in the spring of 2019. In 2023, Coach Bishop took over the Recruiting Coordinator position, and is responsible for all recruiting operations for the Pirate Football staff.  

As the wide receivers coach in 2022, Bishop oversaw three All-Conference selections, including ASC Newcomer of the Year, JoJo Wilson, Ethan Powell and Tight-End Joey Robinson. In 2023, freshman H-Back and Tight-End Sam Johnson received D3football.com All-Region honors. 

Bishop was a member of the football team all four years, including three seasons as a letter winner. At Southwestern, Bishop was a member of the Character Council leadership group and graduated with his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology.
