Young returns to campus as the Defensive Backs Coach in his first season with the Pirates staff in 2025. The former Pirate played WR & DB for the program from 2013-16. Young brings coaching experience dating back to 2017 with experience on different levels and regions.Â
Young started his coaching career as Offensive Assistant/Wide Receiver Coach at Gustavus Adolphus College. Next, he moved into a defensive graduate assistant role at Sam Houston State University where he contributed to a FCS Division I National Championship in 2020.
From 2021-2023, Young served as the Defensive Assistant/Linebackers & Safeties Coach at Manchester University in Indiana. Young's most recent role was back in the defensive back room at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.Â
Young played WR for the Pirates in 2013, before transitioning to DB from 2014-16. He contributed to the 2016 SCAC Championship. Young's coaching philosophy states "Swarm & Compete," stressing to be the best version of yourself in all walks of life.Â
Young earned a bachelor's degree from Southwestern in the class of 2017 with a major in history and minor in communications. He then earned a master's degree of arts of digital media from Sam Houston State University.Â
