GEORGETOWN, TEXAS – Southwestern University Men's Cross Country claimed a second-place finish in the 5K Stormy Seas Opener on Saturday on the campus of Southwestern to open the 2026 season.
 
SU was led by true freshman Aidan Ramirez who claimed a seventh-place finish with a time of 16:58.33 in his first collegiate race. Max Rodriguez finished two spots back in ninth with a 17:00.42.
 
The freshman duo of Spencer Ellis (13^th, 17:28.86) and Keegan Wilson (15^th, 17:37.22) joined Ramirez with strong finishes in their first collegiate races as all three finished within the top-15.
 
Leo Redding claimed a top-25 finish as he clocked an 18:00.49 to claim 23^rd. Cooper Stoughton (39^th, 19:13.70) and Kevin Love (42^nd, 19:36.06) rounded out SU's lineup.
 
All seven of SU's runners finished with a sub-20 minute time in the event.
