MARSHALL, TEXAS - Southwestern Men's Soccer came out flat on the road in against East Texas Baptist University, leading to the road loss, 3-1. The Pirates scored an equalizer before halftime, but were out played in the second half falling to 1-1 overall.
Southwestern held ETBU scoreless last season in a 2-0 win at home. After the road trip east, the Tigers pounced first as the ASC Preseason player of the year fired a rocket from 30 yards out pass
TJ Bass for the first goal (22:54). Despite the goal, Southwestern record 11 shots opposed to ETBU's four. Momentum seemed to change as
Cooper Pero score his first goal of the season on a corner kick header from
Amar Singh.
The Pirates also started the second half strong with two shots on goal from
Danny Wasserman. However, ETBU took the 2-1 lead on another deep shot beyond the 20 yards (66:49). Southwestern had plenty of chances to equalize before ETBU buried an insurance goal on penalty kick (86.17).
