GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Men's Soccer stays red hot in a fourth straight victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University led by three goals in the second half, 4-0. Southwestern earns a third straight clean sheet at they improve to 5-1 overall.
The Pirates hosted the Prairie Wolves for the first meeting ever as NWU entered play 2-2-1. Southwestern recently received national poll votes just outside the top 25 with a chance to sweep the weekend and likely move into the poll.
Southwestern's lineup remained the same besides
Nico Colegrove stepping into the lineup for
Landon Guenther who received a red card against La Verne. The Pirates immediately dominated possession, striking in the 16th minute.
Daniel Sartorio flicked a ball into
Brady Faulkner who found
Grey Richards for the goal on a redirected cross into the near post. SU manufactured eight chances and controlled the pace of the game but entered halftime with just one goal.
The Pirates started the second half looking to put the Prairie Wolves away and bury them.
Cooper Pero drove a long ball into
Quinn MacLeod who made a move past his defender and fired a curling shot into the net for the goal of the night. MacLeod's goal from 20 yards out marked his second of the season as both were heroic efforts as Pero collected the assist.
In the 53rd minute, Pero scored one of his own on a free kick ball from
Ross Anderson to the seniors head. Southwestern's bench entered the game and kept the same standard as
Pierre Mazzawi beat his defender and drew a penalty kick in the 69th minute. Pero took the penalty kick and buried his fourth goal of the season as the senior put the bow on the Prairie Wolves.

- Pero finished with one of the best individual performance of the year with two goals, an assist, and a shutout from the back line.
- The senior now owns 14 career goals as a defender and leads the Pirates this season.
- Richards finished his third goal, while Faulkner stays hot with the assist.
- After nine early yellow cards through five games, Southwestern played a clean game with zero cards.
- Another clean sheet keeps the Pirates at four goals allowed this season in six games.
