BSB Drops Non-Conference Finale On Tuesday Night Against TLU, 12-2

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Baseball struggled on Tuesday night against Texas Lutheran University who have received national ranking votes, 12-2. The Pirates officially conclude their non-conference season with their final midweek battle. The Pirates have only nine SAA conference games to play.

Sophomore Thomas Kuhlow received the start against the Bulldogs. The Pirates surrendered five second inning runs as junior Nolan Yeager entered in relief. Senior Connor Duffey smoked a single to score two runs in the third inning, but the Pirates found themselves down 9-2. Duffey totaled his 40th hit of the season, tied with sophomore Chase Adams for the most on the team.

The Pirates were uncharacteristically quiet offensively with only two hits. Texas Lutheran extended their lead to ten in the seventh to secure a seven-inning run rule winner. Senior Max Pougnet was the lone Pirate pitcher without a run surrendered in their inning who has now gone three straight innings of relief without an earned run. TLU totaled a run in the seventh off sophomore Payne Lochridge, but it was unearned.
