CONWAY, ARKANSAS - Southwestern Men's Lacrosse completely dominated Hendrix College on Saturday afternoon on the road, 17-5. The Pirates earned their first SAA victory of the year and keep their hopes alive to qualify for the SAA Tournament.
After a difficult stretch of opponents, Southwestern snapped their eight-game losing streak on Saturday moving to 5-9 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The Pirates will control their own destiny with two games left against Oglethorpe University and Berry College. If they win out, Southwestern will hold tie breakers against Hendrix, Oglethorpe, and Berry to become the final qualifier.
Senior
Jackson Strauser scored three times to surpass the 100 goal mark for his career to join elite company. Strauser is a team captain who has emerged as a Pirate saftey net to score when the team needs it the most. The senior has 94 goals in the past three seasons, inching closer to the top ten in Pirate history.
Southwestern entered the all-time matchup with Hendrix, winning 15 of 17 times. The Pirates used a dominant 23 for 25 on face offs to gain numerous more possessions. Sophomore
Keaten Cox got the scoring started on an assist from sophomore
Sam Stillwell as Cox was just getting started. Freshman
Marshall Mohun collected the second goal as Cox assisted. Freshman
Zach Hendreks found the net for the first time as a Pirate before sophomore
Jeffrey Jordan made it 4-0 after the first quarter.
The Pirates poured it on in the second quarter with a season-high ten goals to hang a 14-0 lead on the board. Cox scored three goals in the quarter as he finished with a monstrous four goals and four assists on the day. Strauser scored three goals in second quarter for history at 101 on his career. Senior
Matthew Houtz scored both his goals on the day in the second for 87 on his career stat line. Sophomore LSM
Jake Trailer is generally known for causing turnovers, but he joined the party with his fourth of the season.
Mohun scored the lone goal of the third quarter, notching his first career hat-trick. Junior transfer
Zach Tuley found the net in the fourth for his first in a Pirate uniform. Freshman
Austin Egler scored the 17th goal for his third of the year. All four goalies entered the game for the Pirates as they cruised to victory.

- Southwestern face off and defense gave Hendrix zero hope on Saturday.
- Junior Trey Pena went a perfect 8 for 8 with five ground balls.
- Freshman Dylan Mackie had a career day with 15 for 17 with eight ground balls.
- The Southwestern goalies only needed to make three saves as all four played a quarter.
- Trailer totaled a team-high three ground balls, while eight different Pirates caused turnovers.
- Six different Pirates now have double-digit goals this season with Houtz leading at 27 and Cox right behind with 24.
- Cox finished with eight points today. The sophomore now has 22 assists which is only two away from creeping into the all-time top ten.
- Pena sits at 99 ground balls this season which is currently third all-time for a season. The record is 146.
