Southwestern dominated Oglethorpe on Friday night, picking up a 19-2 victory by run-rule. The Pirates pitching staff struggled to find weak contact against the Petrels, allowing 31 runs on the day. The Pirates fall to 1-2 in SAA play.
Sophomore
Chase Adams led the Pirates with five hits on the day. Senior
Lucas Marlowe had two homeruns in game two with five RBI's, while senior
Tres Organ also tallied five runs batted in. Junior

GAME 1
Freshman
Ben Roska got the start in game one, following the seven inning performance by sophomore
Darion Rogers on Friday night. Roska tallied a career-high nine strikeouts in another five inning outing. However, the Petrels totaled six runs against the freshman, five which were earned.
Freshman
Cory Mathews and junior
Ben Feuer smoked two clutched singles to score runs as the Pirates were tied at 4-4 after five innings. The Petrels scored three in the sixth before the Pirates punched back as Organ made it 8-7 after Feuer and senior
Connor Duffey also collected RBI's.
The Petrels made a crucial error as freshman
Alex Ervesun made them pay with a two RBI single as the Pirates trailed 12-10 heading into the top of the ninth. Oglethorpe tacked on two pivotal insurance runs to win game one.
GAME 2
Southwestern countered with freshman
Samuel Garcia on the mound who had a strong Pirate debut last weekend after returning from a minor injury in the preseason. Garcia was not as sharp on Saturday, going 1.2 innings with three earned runs on a pitch count. Freshman
Cam Fucik responded with a solid outing of relief with 2.1 innings, allowing one earned run.
The Pirates led 10-5 after four innings in large part due to the long ball. Stevenson went yard in the second before Marlowe smashed his second career homerun in the second. Stevenson went deep again in the fourth inning, bringing in three runs for his ninth bomb of the year. Adams set Rockwell Family Field on fire with back-to-back homers after Stevenson.
However, the Petrels scored eight straight runs before Duffey had an RBI single as the Pirates trailed 13-11 after seven. Marlowe stepped up in the eighth with a clutch three-run homer to take a 14-13 lead. Marlow snuck it inside the foul pole with plenty of distance for his third in 2026. Oglethorpe responded with four runs in the ninth, taking advantage of a few Pirate walks to win the doubleheader and the opening weekend series.
