BELTON, TEXAS - Southwestern University Baseball traveled south for a quick road game against University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday afternoon, dropping the second game of the series, 12-4. The Pirates fall to 0-2 on the year with a chance to claim their first win of 2026 at home on Sunday at noon.
Southwestern struck first with a double from senior
Cale Cochran and RBI walk from freshman
Cory Matthews. However, UMHB battled back scoring nine unanswered runs. Matthews smashed an RBI single in the 8th, but 12 Crusader runs were too much to overcome.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Matthews had an impressive Pirate debut, getting on base three of his four at bats with two RBI's.
- Senior Ben Feuer went 2 for 4 on the day from the nine hole.
- Five different pitchers took the mound for the Pirates as senior Garrett Guinn took the loss, allowing four runs in 4.1 innings.
