Men's Lacrosse Makes Program History At SAA Tournament

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern Men's Lacrosse team makes history this season as they not only play their way into the SAA Conference Tournament but they advance to the semifinals for the first time in program history. The Pirates traveled to Mount Berry, Georgia to play against Berry College for the quarterfinals of the SAA Conference Tournament. The match up between the Vikings and the Pirates was a tough one but the Pirates came out hot scoring six goals in the first half. The Pirates dominated the Vikings with a final of 15-9. Semifinals took place in Memphis, Tennessee where Southwestern faced Rhodes College. The final from Memphis went in favor of the Lynx 14-11.

  • Senior Cade McDonald scored a team high of three goals on twelve shots while also collecting two ground balls, two assists, and caused one turnover

  • Trey Pena and Declan O'Donnell picked up four ground balls each

  • Southwestern failed to take advantage of the extra man opportunities 

TOURNAMENT NOTES

  • Cade McDonald was named to the All-SAA Tournament team following his performances

  • Dante Avicolli collected twenty-six saves throughout the conference tournament, earning him the title of SAA Newcomer of the Year
