Pirates Drop First Conference Game Of The Season

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Sewanee, Tennessee to take on the University of the South (Sewanee) Tigers in a conference match-up. The Pirates had a tough battle against the Tigers that ended in favor of Sewanee. The game started out close with the Pirates down by one at halftime, the second half was the real battle. The Tigers separated themselves from the Pirates to end the game with a final score of 11-16, Sewanee wins. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS 
  • Junior Attackman Jackson Strauser scored a team high four goals and picked up two ground balls 

  • Goalkeeper Dante Avicolli made sixteen saves in the contest 

  • Matthew Swandal scored one goal, tallied one assist and added two ground balls to his game stat line

GAME NOTES

  • Southwestern went 9-31 against the Tigers in faceoffs

  • Cade McDonald led the PIrates with three ground balls while collecting two goals for the Pirates and one caused turnover for the game

  • Pirates took advantage of the extra man opportunities they had going 2-2
