Women's Tennis Cleans House In Abilene

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Women's tennis team traveled to Abilene, Texas to face Hardin-Simmons University and McMurry University on Friday, April 11th. The Pirates defeated the HSU Cowboys with scores of 4-3 in a non-conference match. After a short break the Pirates took on McMurry University winning in dominating fashion 7-0 in their second non-conference match of the day.

 

MATCH 1 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Southwestern won all three doubles matches, finishing the day a combined eighteen games to five.

  • In a back and forth singles match, Junior Daryl Locke went down early, dropping the first set but stormed back winning twelve of the remaining seventeen sets to win the match.

  • Kimberly Duncan, Junior, had a dominate win in the #4 Singles match only dropping five games while winning twelve and taking both sets.

MATCH 2 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Erika Synoski and Valeria Gracia defeated Jenna Vincent and Karitza Bencomo of McMurry in #1 Doubles, winning six games to two.

  • Freshman Lilly Perkins had a come from behind victory after dropping the first set, Perkins won the match in the third set in ten to three fashion.

  • Adrianna Kozakiewicz, Freshman, had a commanding win in #5 Singles, winning all but one game.

UP NEXT

  • Southwestern women's tennis will be back in Georgetown, Texas as the Pirates face University of California, Santa Cruz at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 19th and Colorado College at 10:00 AM on Sunday, April 20th.
