GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Men's tennis team traveled to Abilene, Texas to go up against McMurry University & Hardin-Simmons University on Friday, April 11th. This doubleheader consisted of one conference match versus the Warhawks and then a non-conference match against the Cowboys. The Pirates showed up as they swept the Warhawks 7-0 and defeated the Cowboys 6-1. 

MATCH 1 HIGHLIGHTS

• Ashton Ellis and Oscar Roy defeated Nicolas Villalovos and Evan Perzirtzoglou in a clean sweep 6-0 in Doubles #1
• Nolan Alvarez, freshman, shutout his opponent at #2 Singles in both sets for his second career singles win
• Southwestern finished their three doubles matches winning a combined eighteen games to three and their six singles games seventy-two to nine

MATCH 2 HIGHLIGHTS

• Bernardo Clemente and Parth Patel defeated Payne Smith and Jameson Sorrell in a close match that finished seven games to five in the Pirates favor
• Senior Oscar Roy's singles match against Payne Smith was the only match to go to a third set and ended in a tiebreaker that finished ten to seven in a victory for Roy
• Ashton Ellis won his match in two sets with the second set finishing in a 7-4 tiebreaker to avoid going to a third set
