Pirates Sweep Series Against Crusaders At Home

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Softball team opened the 2025 conference season facing University of Dallas at Taylor-Sanders Field in Georgetown, Texas. Pirates started the opening weekend with a single game on Friday, and a double-header on Saturday. The Pirates had their first sweep of the season defeating Crusaders 4-3 in game one, 7-4 in game two, and 7-3 in game three. 

 

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Tauryn Alexander hit a double in the fifth inning to score Riley Glenn-Millhouse which tied the game against Crusaders

  • R. Glenn-Millhouse led the Pirates with two RBIs, collected three hits, and assisted on five outs from shortstop

  • Pitcher Jaden Wheeler picked up her first save of the season 

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Pirates jumped on the board early scoring four in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead 4-2

  • Pirates Macey Gilman, Tauryn Alexander, and Daniella Clark each earned an RBI

  • Senior Calle Collier smashed a three run home run over the left center fence to extend the Pirates lead 7-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning

GAME 3 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Senior Erica Otto had a career high of three stolen bases in a single game

  • Daniella Clark collected two more RBIs on the season

  • Three different Pirates hit doubles on the day - Collier, Garza, & McCarthy

NOTES

  • Kaydence Garza had a stellar weekend going 5-7 at the plate (.714), had one walk (.750 OBP), scored twice, and had a slugging percentage of 1.143%

  • Pitcher Jocelyn Cantu picked up her first win of the season in game two of the series

  • Mazlyn Heyer had her first save of the season in game three

UP NEXT

  • Southwestern Softball will be back at Taylor-Sanders Field on Tuesday, February 18th to face University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in another single game match up at 5:00pm.
