Women's Basketball Falls Short Against Schreiner

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern Women's Basketball traveled down to Kerrville, Texas to play against Schreiner University on Friday, February 14th. The Pirates going into the contest 4-8 in conference play, respectively fell to Mountaineers 64-88. Pirates were held to only seven points in the second period, allowing the Mountaineers to have an eighteen point lead at halftime. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: 

  • Pirates were led by freshman Alexa Romero with a career high nineteen points, 

  • Sophomore Trinity Benitez racked up a team high eight rebounds, while also scoring ten of her own

  • Pirates controlled the boards in rebounds collecting thirty-five compared to Mountaineers twenty-nine

 

GAME NOTES:

  • Pirates Tea Rodrigues (8) & Lauren Stevens (9) also helped offensively with eight and nine points of their own

  • The Pirates went 21-53 from the field, 4/18 from three, and were 78% from the free throw line

  • Pirates bench scored forty-one points compared to Mountaineers thirty-one

  • The Southwestern Pirates will be on the road again, traveling to San Antonio, Texas to play Trinity University on Saturday February 15th at 4pm.
