GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University women's tennis team opened their 2025 spring season at home on the Henderson Courts yesterday, facing off against conference opponent, the University of Dallas Crusaders. From top to bottom, the Pirates swept the Crusaders 7-0 to advance to 1-0 on the year.Â
In this seasons new format, there are seven available team points. The team that wins two of the three doubles matches receives one dual match point. Each singles match is worth one point. Four or more points are required to win the dual match.Â
In the order of play, three doubles will be followed by six singles with the format for double being three 6-game set matches with a 7-point tiebreak at 6-all. Doubles will be followed by six best-of-three set singles matches as previous seasons.Â
The team of
Alexa Nunez and
Lilly Perkins swept their doubles match in the three spot 6-0 while the teams of
Lydia Lee and
Erika Synoski, as well as
Daryl Locke and
Kimberly Duncan took care of business, winning their matches 6-1 and 6-3, respectively.
In singles play, clean sweeps of their opponents came from Nunez, Perkins,
Adrianna Kozakiewicz, and
Helaina Reynoso, taking their victories 6-0, 6-0. At the number one and two singles spots, Lee and Locke took 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1 match wins in a dominant Pirate performance.Â
