Pirates Fall to No. 10 Trinity, Secure No. 2 Seed for SAA Tournament

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS -  Southwestern Volleyball battled hard but came up short against No. 10 Trinity University on Friday night, falling 0–3 (23–25, 22–25, 15–25). Despite the loss, the Pirates locked in the No. 2 seed for the upcoming SAA Conference Tournament.

The Pirates came out strong in the opening set, pushing the nationally ranked Tigers to the limit before narrowly dropping the frame, 23–25. Southwestern continued to challenge Trinity in the second set but couldn't overcome a late surge by the Tigers, who took the set 25–22 and closed out the match with a 25–15 win in the third. Southwestern now turns its attention to postseason play, entering the SAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed. The Pirates will face the winner of Berry College and Rhodes College on Thursday, November 14th.

  • McWhorter and Ahrens each notched an ace from the service line.

  • On the defensive end, Ahrens led all players with 16 digs, followed by Rodriguez with 12 and Flora with six.

  • As a team, the Pirates hit .086 for the match with set percentages of .143, .121, and -.029, while Trinity hit .169 overall
