Steele Wins Again as Pirates Finish Second at SU Showdown

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS – The Southwestern University women's cross country team turned in a dominant showing at their home meet, the SU Showdown, on October 18th in Georgetown, Texas. Racing against a competitive field of regional programs, the Pirates secured a strong 2nd-place team finish with 60 points, trailing only Dallas Baptist University. The performance showcased the team's depth and competitiveness as they move toward the championship phase of the season. Consistent pack running and a front-running individual effort set the tone for the day.

  • Southwestern finished second overall with a team score of 60.
  • Breanna Steele led the charge in outstanding fashion, winning the individual title in 23:11.05—her second consecutive first-place finish at this meet.

  • The Pirates now shift their focus to the SAA Championships on November 1st in Georgetown, where they'll look to deliver a championship.
