Strong First Half Pushes Women's Basketball Past Austin College

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern women's basketball took their second conference win of the season on Friday night against the Austin College 'Roos in Sherman, Texas. The Pirates held the 'Roos to just fifteen first half points, riding out a fourteen point halftime lead to a 61-54 victory. 

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Trinity Benitez posted her fourth double double of the season, putting together a game high eighteen points, and a game hight thirteen rebounds, tied with her teammate Ellie Ward.
  • Following double digit scoring for the Pirates was Adrianna McCoy, who went for fourteen points with six rebounds and two assists. 
  • Ward nearly secured a double double with her thirteen rebounds, but was one point shy of the margin with nine points. She also added three assists to her stat line. 
NOTES
  • First-year Emma Flores was third on the scoring list for Southwestern with ten, going a perfect 4/4 from the free throw line. 
  • Southwestern shot 28 free throws in the contest, drawing a combined twenty five fouls from the 'Roos. Southwestern made twenty of those and was 71.4% for the game. 
  • The lead only changed one time in the match-up, and the Pirates largest lead stood at 18 points late in the third quarter.
