GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Football was on the road for the second straight week this weekend, this time for their SAA Conference opener against the Warriors of Hendrix College. The Pirates went down early, facing a 15-0 deficit by the end of the first quarter but were able to secure two touchdowns in the second to bring the scoreline to 13-22 headed into halftime. Southwestern would add on another touchdown in the third quarter, but the Warriors maintained their lead all the way to a 35-20 victory over the Pirates.Â

OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS

Christian Reeves rushed eight times for sixty-nine yards and one touchdown against the Warriors, averaging 8.6 yards per carry.Â

Leroy Rodriguez rushed for one touchdown and twenty-six net yards.

Graydon Thompson caught one pass for thirty yards, tied with Rodriguez for the team high.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS

Defensive Back J.P. Reyes secured a touchdown for the Pirates off a seventy-four-yard interception return. Reyes was also second on the team in total tackles with seven, all unassisted.

Jameer Martin also picked off a Warriors pass as a part of two pass breakups, one tackle for loss, and twelve total tackles.Â

Caleb Harmon recorded a sack as a part of two tackles for loss for a total of twelve yards.

Place kicker and punter Charlie Fournier averaged 44.3 yards on six punts with a long of sixty on the day. He had two punts of fifty or more yards.Â
