Men's Soccer Defeats Cal Lutheran 2-1

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University men's soccer team defeated Cal Lutheran Kingsmen on Sunday, September 15th. The hot and humid weather conditions made this game a long, brutal battle between the Pirates and the Kingsmen, where the Pirates ultimately came out victorious 2-1. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sophomore Cooper Pero scored the first goal of the game (31st minute), from an assist made by Senior Michael Grimm. 

  • Senior Luca Cipleu scored his first goal of the year (60th minute) on a header off of a cross from Junior Greyson Pinto. 

  • Goalkeeper Scott Johnson had 4 saves on the day to keep the Pirates ahead of the Kingsmen

GAME NOTES

  • Three yellow cards were given out throughout the game, two of which were given to Pirates, Michael Grimm & Quinn MacLeod.

  • The Pirates defense limited the Kingsmen to only seven shots on the day

  • The Pirates travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin to play against Carthage College on Saturday, September 21st at 7:30 PM.
