GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Volleyball wrapped up their SCAC Conference Tournament run with their first championship appearance since 2021. The Pirates ultimately fell to Trinity University, 3-1 on Saturday night, bringing their overall record to 23-6 (.793), and 11-4 against SCAC opponents. The Pirates exchanged the first and second sets with the Tigers; Trinity took set one 25-20, but the Pirates rebounded to take set two, 25-15. The Tigers then took momentum and captured the next two sets 25-22, 25-13 to claim their victory.
Southwestern Volleyball will now await the release of the NCAA DIII Championship Tournament Bracket to see if they will be selected to compete in the NCAA Tournament once again. The bracket is set to be announced on Monday, November 18th at 12:00 PM CST.
In All-SCAC Awards voting, the Pirates gained five All-Conference award winners.
Lily McWhorter, a junior middle blocker from The Woodlands, Texas, was named First Team All-SCAC. Throughout the 2024 season McWhorter totaled 158 kills and 95 blocks, adding up to 231.5 points, and a team-best .314 hitting percentage.
Emily Marks, a junior right side hitter from Cypress, Texas was named Second Team All-SCAC for her performance this year. Marks tallied 274 kills, averaging 2.7 kills per set while hitting .210 for the Pirates. Marks scored 300 points and was third on the team in blocks at 48.

Carly Berkman all received Honorable Mention recognition for the Pirates. Over 29 games Nedrow dug 575 balls for an average of 19.8 a game and 5.28 per set, Nedrow was also first on the team in aces with 46.
Annika Flora neared almost 600 assists (598), averaging 5.49 assists per set and was second in digs on the team at 285.
Carly Berkman led the Pirates in kills on the season with 301, averaging 2.84 kills per set and also leading the team in points at 321.5 adding in 36 blocks.
