Men's Soccer and Colorado College Battle To 0-0 Draw

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Southwestern men's soccer goalkeeper Jack Viles made eight saves to preserve a clean sheet in the Pirates' 0-0 double-overtime draw with Colorado College. 

Colorado College controlled possession in the first half, doubling Southwestern in shot attempts 8-4, putting five on goal. Viles, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) leader in shutouts, stopped them all., including a penalty kick by Sajjan Singh at the 36:27 mark in the first half. 

The game featured a combined 29 fouls, of which Southwestern had 15. There were also six yellow cards, evenly divided between both teams. 

Colorado College finished with a 21-16 advantage in shots, including an 8-1 edge in shots on goal. The Tigers also had 11 corner kicks to the Pirates' six. Fernando Garduno-Jaramilo led Southwestern with four shot attempts, while Keegan Hardy got the lone shot on goal. 

Southwestern is now 5-1-3 this season, including 0-0-1 in conference play. The Pirates will host Schreiner on Friday, Oct. 8, and Trinity on Sunday, Oct. 10.
