Men's Soccer Comes Up Short Against Trinity Tigers

Box Score
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – After a neck and neck game, the Southwestern University men's soccer fell one goal short against the Trinity University Tigers, now making their season 6-2-1.

After last year's close loss to the Tigers ina penalty kick shootout the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) championship game, this game was highly anticipated by both teams and their fans alike. At the beginning of the game, Trinity was quick to score the first goal, giving them the initial advantage. However, Brendan Dauth was quick to answer back and scored the equalizer goal, assisted by Ashton Bynum, to tie the game 1-1. The first half would end tied for both teams.

In the second half, both the Pirates and Trinity fought hard in the beginning try and score the second goal to gain the lead and win the game. With the clock running out of time and a game looking to go into overtime, Trinity's Michael Somerville was able to score a goal within the last five minutes of the game to end with a win for Trinity.

Up next, the Pirates will begin conference play as they take on the University of Dallas and Austin College next Friday and Sunday on Varsity Field in Georgetown.
