SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action got underway this weekend for the baseball team as they take on Trinity for a three-game series. The nationally-ranked Tigers took the game one win 11-1 in seven innings. 

TU pounced early, posting eight runs in the second inning while holding the Pirates off the base paths. Southwestern was held to just two hits on the evening, one each from Seth Sparks and Byron Dowdell.

Jason McCormack scored the lone Pirate run, taking advantage of a TU error to cross the plate in the seventh. 

Tyler Polasek garnered the loss to fall to 2-2 on the year, allowing eight runs on eight hits with two walks. 

The two teams square off again on Saturday for a double-header beginning at 1 pm.
