GEORGETOWN, Texas - Kaleb Kirk struck out 10 in a complete-game effort, leading No. 7 Centenary to a 7-1 win over Southwestern in the series opener Friday night at Rockwell Field.

Kirk (7-3) scattered four hits in his first complete game of the season for the league-leading Gents (27-6, 13-3 SCAC).

The Pirates (18-15, 7-6 SCAC) picked up their lone run in the seventh, as Ben Little scored on Cameron Cooper's single to left field.

Will Preston (0-3) took the loss after giving up three runs in five innings.

The two teams will complete the set with a doubleheader Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
