AGGRESSIVE PLAY NOTCHES 1-0 WIN FOR PIRATES

Box Score

An aggressive game by the Pirates against the Comets of UT-Dallas led to a 1-0 win on a beautiful day at Southwestern University.  Steven Resnik scored the only goal of the game.  The goal is Resnik's first of his collegiate career.

The loan goal came in the second half came in the 72nd minute when sophomore Evan Perkins crossed to senior Alex Keller who, with a soft touch that drew the defense, passed to Resnik who put the ball firmly in the back of the net.  The Pirates had many chances on the day with 21 shots, 5 by Perkins and 4 by Keller.  Several shots sailed just above the crossbar.

More impressive than the Pirate offense was the Pirates' defense on the day.  The group allowed just 7 shots on the day and only 2 on target.  Stellar play by Nick Pierce, junior keeper, and junior defender Colin McCulloch led the way in a win that was far more impressive than its 1-0 score leads to believe.

The Pirates return to the pitch on Saturday at 5:00 to face a scrappy Hardin Simmons University squad.
