Throw out the stats when it comes to a rival game. For the third
time this season Southwestern and Trinity squared off, however, for
the first time since the 2004-05 season it was Southwestern turning
up roses with a 68-63 win.
Behind junior guard Anthony Cox's 18
points, five assists and solid play the No. 3 West seeded
Southwestern University Pirates earned a spot in its first ever
SCAC Championships game Saturday.
Cox shot 70 percent (7-for-10) from the floor and the Pirates
used a 30-12 points in the paint margin to its advantage. Andrew McDonald
chipped in with 15 points for the Pirates. Trinity's B.J. Moon, the
hero against Sewanee on Firday, paced the Tigers with 20 points on
7-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-10 from beyond the arc.
Southwestern will face first-seeded Centre tomorrow at 2:30 pm
from Grove Gymnasium on the campus of Hendrix College. Southwestern
lost by ten, 73-63, in their first and only match-up of the year at
Centre.
The SCACs Jeff DeBaldo caught up with Southwestern head coach Bill Raleigh,
