A late second half run by Millsaps pushed the Majors past Southwestern on Sunday and officially dropped the Pirates out of post-season contention. The Pirates fell 65-62.
The Pirates shot well from the field going 21-44 (47.7%) and 6-14 from the three point line in addition to not allowing a single made three pointer from Millsaps, but turned the ball over seven more times in the contest including one with 2.5 seconds remaining in the game and down by three. The Pirates were also out-rebounded in the contest 37-27.
Senior forward Natasha Azizi was hot from the field scoring 24 points on 9-11 shooting and went 6-7 from the free throw line. Junior guard Narisa Trammell was 4-7 from beyond the arc and was the second leading scorer with 12 points. Sophomore forward Staley Mullins chipped in 11 points.
The Pirates were led in steals and rebounds by junior guard Jennifer Tindle who pulled down six rebounds and recorded 3 steals.
With the loss the Pirates fall to 5-18 overall and 1-12 in the SCAC. They will close out their season this weekend with two home games. They will take on Austin College on Friday and Colorado College on Sunday.
