Despite senior forward Natasha Azizi posting her fourth double-double of the season, Southwestern dropped their fourth conference game of year to Millsaps, 45-42.
Turnovers again plagued the Pirates who committed 28 for the game. They did record 16 steals and force Millsaps into 29 turnovers, but poor shooting led to the loss. The Pirates shot just 25.5% from the field and 10% from beyond the arc.
SU did record a season high in blocked shots with 10. Staley Mullins had 5 blocks on the night to tie her season high.
Southwestern was led by Azizi who had 17 points on 6-13 shooting and 5-8 from the free throw line. Azizi also led the team in rebounds with 11. Jennifer Tindle and Mullins followed with 9 points each.
The loss drops the Pirates to 3-9 on the season and 0-4 in conference. They will look to rebound against conference foe Trinity on Friday, January 9th at 8:00 p.m. in Georgetown, TX.
