The Pirates jumped out to a 6-0 lead to start the game and never looked back as they beat the University of Dallas in Irving, TX, 62-49.

Southwestern shot well on the afternoon, shooting 41% (22-54) from the field and 72.2% (13-18) from the free-throw line.

The Pirates defense was also sharp as they forced the Crusaders into 26 turnovers and just 14.3% from beyond the arc.

Junior guard Narissa Trammel led the Pirates with 15 points off the bench on 5-9 shooting, including going 3-5 from three-point range. She also posted a season high in steals, taking the ball 7 times in the game.

Trammell was followed in points by junior guard Jessica Herbst and senior forward Natasha Azizi with 11 and 10 points respectively. Azizi and sophomore forward Katie Kern led the Pirates in rebounds with 8 each.

With the win, Southwestern improves to 4-10 overall. They will return to conference action at Rhodes College on Friday, January 16th at 8:00 p.m.
