Southwestern Men Pull Out 2-1 Win with Late Goal

A goal with less than five minutes left gave the Southwestern University men's soccer team a 2-1 win over the University of the South-Sewanee in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Sunday (Oct. 28) in Sewanee, TN.

Sophomore Nathan Shaw-Meadow (San Antonio, TX/Reagan HS) scored his first career goal in the 16th minute to put the Pirates ahead by one. The score remained 1-0 through the first period.

In the second half, Sewanee got on the board with a goal from Tab Wood during the 69th minute to tie things up. SU had an answer as senior Daniel Webb (Austin, TX/Westlake HS) scored the game-winner at the 85:14 mark.

The goal was Webb's third of the weekend as he scored twice in Friday's win. The victory in goal went to junior Ryan Tasin (Georgetown, TX/Georgetown HS) who made three saves. The Pirates defense has allowed just three goals in eight conference games.

Southwestern improves to 7-1-1 in the SCAC and 12-5-2 overall while the loss drops Sewanee to 5-12 and 2-7 in the conference.

The Pirates will close out the regular season in San Antonio, TX at 8:00 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 2).
