Fagan's Penalty Kick Downs Southwestern, 1-0

The SU men's soccer team lost a tight 1-0 decision to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe colorado College Tigers on Sunday (Oct. 14) in Colorado Springs, CO.

The only goal of the game came at 9:43 when CC's Pat Fagan scored on a penalty kick. In the first half, the Pirates were out-shot by a large 15-2 margin. Goalkeeper Ryan Tasin (Georgetown, TX/Georgetown HS) made seven saves in the period, including a stretch of three saves in 13 seconds right before the penalty kick. Kyle Strine (Houston, TX/Klein Oak HS) nearly tied the game with just over a minute left when his header just missed going in the goal.

Tasin kept the Pirates in the game as he made 11 saves. Colorado held a 23-7 advanage in shots as well a 4-3 in corner kicks.

Southwestern falls to 8-5-2 overall and 4-1-1 in conference play while the Tigers improves to 9-5 for the year and 3-1 in the SCAC.

The Pirates return to Georgetown, TX for their final two home games next weekend when they host Centre College on Friday (Oct. 19) at 2:00 p.m. and DePauw University on Sunday (Oct. 21) at 1:00 p.m.
