SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Southwestern wrapped up spring break with some familiar foes, competing in the University of Incarnate Word Spring Break Classic over the weekend.
Southwestern had their best finishes of the weekend in the field events. All four Pirates finished in the top ten in the shot put, led by Erin Toro who posted a new school record brought home sixth with a throw of 10.74 meters. Julia Glandt took the high spot for SU in the discus with an SU record throw of 35.09 meters while Hannah Bruce was hot on her heels, posting a throw of 34.39 meters. Bruce and Morgan Gilpin also posted new Southwestern records in the hammer throw and javelin, respectively.
On the track the 4x400 relay of Jaye Ashley, Morgan Gilpin, Sofia Garcia and Mallory Harkins finished in fourth place while the 4x100 brought home fifth. Ashley also finished seventh in the long jump.
Southwestern returns to competition on Friday, March 23 as they take on McMurry University in Abilene.
