Southwestern dropped a 13-7 contest to Goucher College at Towson, Md. on Friday.
Emma Albin broke the seal for Southwestern with a goal three minutes in. Goucher's Rita Meissner matched the effort on a free position shot and Mary Jalufka put SU back on top with 17 minutes to play in the half.
Goucher then rattled off five straight goals to take a four goal lead that lasted into halftime as the Pirates trailed 8-4 at the break.
The Gophers kicked off the second half with a goal and fended off a Pirate run early in the frame to hand Southwestern a 13-7 loss.
Southwestern trailed 28-17 in shots and 17-5 in draw controls. The Pirates did pick up eight more ground balls but went just 13-28 on clears and 0-3 on free position shots.
SU falls to 6-7 on the year and remain on the road to face Hood College at 10 am CT on Sunday.
