Kurt Hallead is in his eleventh season as an assistant coach for the Pirates football team. In 2023 the Pirates were third in the SAA in total rushing yards with 1,456 averaging 3.7 yards a carry with eighteen touchdowns and in 2021, his second year as running backs coach, the team rushed for more than 1,600 yards and averaged over 4 yards per carry. Before coaching at Southwestern, he was an assistant coach at Hyde Park Baptist High School in Austin, Texas.

Kurt Hallead is the Co-founder of Legacy League Inc., a sports technology startup, and a former Wall Street executive. He has a BA in Finance from Michigan State University and a Master’s degree in Sports Administration from Northwestern University. He and his wife, Ann, have three children and reside in Austin.
