GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Men's Basketball senior
Shobby Enakpene was awarded SAA Player of the Week after leading his squad scoring in the wins against Howard Payne University and East Texas Baptist University.
Enakpene has excelled as team captain and the Pirates late game target to get a bucket at any time. The senior has improved from 7.9 points per game last year to an incredible 20.0 in six games this year. Enakpene earns his first career Player of the Week, along with the program's first SAA nod in the new conference.
In the victory over HPU, Enakpene scored nine points in the final seven minutes, totaling 20 for the night. He also had a career-high four steals in only 24 minutes. On Saturday, the Midland native had 19 points in only 22 minutes battling through a nagging injury and showing his toughness. Enakpene helped the Pirates take down the Tigers for the first time in four career NCAA DIII match ups.
The Pirates travel to Schreiner University on Wednesday, before celebrating Senior Night against Texas Lutheran University on Friday.
