Timourian breaks school record in UIW Invitational on Saturday

LIVE OAK, Texas – Brianna Timourian finished fifth overall and set a school record while leading the Southwestern women's cross country team at the 10th Annual UIW Fall Invitational on Saturday morning at Live Oak City Park.

The sophomore harrier smashed the Pirates' 6K record by 26 seconds, covering the course in 22:21.3, while finishing second among the non-Division I runners in the field. Timourian took over the school record from former SU standout Lilly Duarte, who logged a time of 22:47.3 in 2013.

Nour Hussein and Morgan Fortieth followed Timourian, placing 47th and 48th, respectively, among the non-Division I field. Hussein navigated the course in 27:18.0, while Forteith crossed the line in 27:35.4.

The Pirates will return home to host the Southwestern Invitational on Friday, Oct. 16. The race is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. at Berry Springs Park in Georgetown.
