NICHOLLS, THOMPSON SELECTED AS AVCA ALL-AMERICA HONORABLE MENTION

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 30th annual AVCA All-America teams for NCAA Division III women's volleyball and Southwestern juniors Christina Nicholls (pictured, left) and Lindsay Thompson (pictured, right) were named as Honorable Mention selections.

Nicholls ended the season as the Pirates' leader in assists, averaging 9.5 per set. She was third in aces with 28 and also aided defensively, recording 402 digs (2.89/set) and 42 blocks. 

Thompson is 34th in the nation in blocks per set at 1.12 per game, for a team high 149 on the season. She is also SU's leader in kills with 354 (2.66/set) and boasted a .277 hitting percentage.

The 2010 All-America selections were made by the AVCA Division III All-America Committee comprised of eight coaches throughout the United States. The awards will be presented Nov. 18th at teh NCAA Division III Women's National Championship banquet in St. Louis, Mo., where the 2010 Division III AVCA Player of the Year will be announced.
