Cardone falls in opening round at NCAA Championship

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Making her second appearance in the NCAA Division III Singles Championship in as many years, sophomore Mary Cardone faced one of the toughest draws of the tournament as she opened against #3 Elysa Kohrs of MIT.

Kohrs took the first game in the opening set but Cardone quickly responded and went up 4-2. Kohrs rattled off four straight game wins to win the first set 6-4 and was able to fend off Cardone the rest of the way. Ultimately, Cardone exited the championship with a 6-2 set two loss.
