PIRATE WOMEN WIN FIRST DUAL MEET OF SEASON

WACO, Texas - The Southwestern women's tennis team had a good showing by their young talent and pulled out a 5-4 win over Austin College in their first dual meet of the 2010-11 season.

The Pirates won two of the three doubles matches to start off strong. Sarah Johnson and Lali Satyavada defeated Booker/McDonald 8-1 in number two doubles while Kindall Hogenson (pictured) and Abigail Sedory defeated Berger Edwards 8-6 in #3 doubles. Number one doubles, Elyse Bigler and Aimee Blake, were just narrowly defeated 8-6 by Goddard/Flint to stop the double sweep.

In singles action Hogenson continued her outstanding play, winning in #4 singles over Booker 6-3, 6-4. Satyavada took the win in #1 singles when her opponent retired due to injury after Satyavada went up 2-0. Elyse Bigler once again won her singles match, defeating Satyavada 3-6, 6-1, 10-7 in #3 singles.

The Pirates head to ITA Regionals in San Antonio, Texas beginning on September 24th.
