Pirates Dominate 'Roos
The Southwestern women's swim team dominated the Roos on Saturday with a 137-53 win. The Pirates took first place in all but 2 events.
The 200 medley relay team of Emmy Gradisar, Mara Weidmann, Blythe Nava, and Christine Moody took first place with a time of 2:01.56. Anne Stankus won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 12:08.00.
The Pirates took the top 2 spots in the 200 free thanks to Elizabeth Lewis' 2:07.04 and Sarah Alpini's 2:08.46. Southwestern captured the top 3 spots in the 50 free. Sarah Ayers took first with a time of 25.82. She was closely followed by teammates Blythe Nava, 26.10, and Emily Haskell, 26.74. The Pirates also dominated the 100 free as Sarah Alpini, 57.98, Emily Haskell, 58.95, and Christine Moody, 59.73, took the top 3 spots.
Emmy Gradisar swam a 1:11.30 to take first in the 100 backstroke. Anne Stankus was close behind with a time of 1:12.89. In the 500 free, Sarah Ayers continued to rake in top points with a time of 5:29.80. Katie Lelinski also got in on the act with a time of 5:50.48 and a second place finish.
Mara Weidmann finished in the top spot in the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:17.49. Teammate Elizabeth Lewis was a close second with a time of 1:19.21. The 800 relay teams of Sarah Ayers, Elizabeth Lewis, Emily Haskell, and Emmy Gradisar (8:35.71) and Katie Lelinski, Christine Moody, Sarah Alpini, and Melissa Nelson (8:50.87) took first and second to finish off the dominating meet.
The Pirates will return to action on January 14 at the Austin College Invitational.
