Pirates Swim Well on Senior Day
The Southwestern swimmers came up short against Trinity University Saturday afternoon in a 180-98 loss with the lop sided score due in part to diving scores added into the meet. During the meet, two Pirate swimmers set team bests for the year and while the Pirates took first place in four events. Sarah Ayers set a best of 55.02 in the 100 freestyle while also setting a year's best in the 100 butterfly, 1:01.56. The Pirates' first place finishes came in the 100 yard backstroke, Bailey Thompson-1:02.29, the 50 yard freestyle, Sarah Ayers-25.53, the 100 yard freestyle, Sarah Ayers-55.02, and the 100 yard butterfly, Sarah Ayers-1:01.56. Several other Pirate swimmers added to the point total with strong finishes in point standings. The Pirates will be in action at the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational at Palo Alto Collego in San Antonio January 28 at 6 PM.
