WOMEN'S SWIMMERS DOWN MCMURRY IN FINAL REGULAR SEASON MEET


GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Southwestern women's swim team won six events on Saturday afternoon as they played host to McMurry University in their final meet of the regular season. The strong performances will serve and solid building blocks as the Pirates prepare for the SCAC Swim and Dive Championships in two weeks.

Sarah Ayers started things off well individually with taking first place in the 200 free, beating her competition by nine seconds with a time of 2:03.89.

Elizabeth Lewis and Melissa Nelson claimed a one, two finish in the 200 IM to continue the tough swims. Lewis finished in a time of 2:21.24 while Nelson came in at 2:23.05. Nelson got a first-place finish of her own in the 100 free, finishing nearly seven seconds ahead of her closest competitor in a time of 59.93.

Ayers tacked on another event win in the 100 back coming in at 1:00.69 while Stephanie Morton kept things rolling with a first place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 1:19.98.

To close out the meet in style the Pirate's 400 free relay consisting of Bailey Thompson, Michele Comerota, Nelson, and Ayers snagged first place in the final event of the day coming in at 3:53.79 and an astonishing 40 seconds ahead of second place.

The Pirates head to Louisville, KY in two weeks for the SCAC Championships held at the Ralph R. Wright Natatorium on the campus of the University of Louisville February 17-20th.
